”You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!”
2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NLT)
We live in a world where people have become independently minded. A world where people behave anyhow, going with popular opinions and doing what they feel is right in their eyes. This present world is filled with diverse religious beliefs and values. The pressure and challenges of this time especially with the incident of COVID-19 pandemic and the attendant consequences have made many to lose hope and believe that God has forgotten about them and that He's sleeping.
Apart from the negative impact of the Corona virus pandemic on the people, there's a serious battle going on for the soul of the nations of the world. The incessant and ever-increasing cases of kidnappings, violence, rape of female children and the elderly among other vices are at a magnitude of such that has never been witnessed before. These include killings, robbery, fraudulent activities, immoralities and several other vices which were regarded as abominable acts in the past.
At such a time as this, it is important for us not to lose our identities as Christians. We should reinforce our own convictions and beliefs and stand by them. It is in a time like this that we need to constantly remind ourselves about what we stand for so that we do not get caught in the quagmire of false beliefs and the practices of the world.Read More
